Case Study: Let the data speak!
Our Data Analytics experts understand that the most useful way to encounter and interact with complex data
Case Study Background: ISA has provided data analytics and visualization support to several organizations within our federal and defense customer portfolio. Our customer profile for these services has primarily involved mid-sized, national security-focused government organizations which manage complex portfolios, programs, and projects in support of the US military, intelligence community, and international partners. These organizations are responsible for collecting and managing vast amounts of data related to cost, schedule, performance, risk, and more through a variety of databases, repositories, and data capture mechanisms.
Customer Goal and Challenge: A reoccurring need that we have observed in our customers has been the desire to create efficient tools for analyzing, interpreting, and reporting data. The goal has been to enable decision makers and senior leader stakeholders to easily understand “what the data says”, in order to make objective, data driven decisions for their portfolios, programs, and projects. Due to the national security implications of their unique missions, our customers require the ability to quickly pivot programmatic or project efforts, in response to evolving strategic priorities and mission needs.
The challenge here is that our customer’s data has been increasing in volume-becoming even bigger data. These large data sets require significant time to sort through, comprehend, and distill into useful insights for a decision maker. Furthermore, if analysis requires data from disparate sources, it quickly becomes cumbersome to use traditional methods of data consolidation and analysis.
The ISA Approach – Our Data Analytics experts understand that the most useful way to encounter and interact with complex data is through visualization. Data visualization is a process of presenting data through a variety of easily graphics, (e.g. pie charts, bar charts, line charts, maps and more!). Visualization can be provided in static products (such as reports, briefings, placemats, and infographics) or as live, interactive tools, such as dashboards. Our Data Analytics experts have supported these customers by organizing data and visually presenting data with live, interactive dashboard, which enables decision makers to more easily engage, analyze, and understand complex information to discern data-driven insights.
Benefits of the ISA Solution: Our Data Analytics team supports our customers with development of strategies for more effective data capture and consolidation, advises on and supports the execution of data cleansing and preparation, and ultimately meets the customer need to achieve data-driven planning and decision-making capability through fully-customized, interactive, data visualization dashboards.
At a high-level, our ISA Data Analytics solutions has offered our customers the ability to see the big picture. ISA data visualization dashboard tools have enabled our customers to more easily identify trends, patterns, and relationships across portfolios, programs, and projects. Our interactive dashboard tools decompose vast amounts of data into easily interpreted roll-up graphics which simplify data presentation, offer holistic insights, and help create common ground among decision-makers through use of our authoritative data tools.
